Position:                                                       Machine Operator

Location:                                                      Production Floor

Reports To:                                                  Shift Supervisor

Classification:                                             Hourly, Non-Exempt

 

Job Summary:

 

Produces and packages quality injection molded parts.  Keeps track of quality problems and correct counts per hour. Responsible for assuring complete and accurate assemblies with zero defects. Machine Operators are expected to be able to work all of the different presses.  

 

Essential Functions:

 

Independently removes plastic parts from team’s injection molding machines or conveyors and inspects the parts for quality defects.

 

Independently trims, clips and assembles parts as is specified by job operation sheets, then packages parts in boxes.

 

Labels boxes and stacks skids with filled boxes for shipping.  Independently completes production reports as directed.

 

Maintains a clean, safe work area.

 

Cooperates with members of team, communicating ideas and concerns in a positive results oriented manner.

 

Attends work on time, as scheduled.

 

Protects molds.

 

Performs assembly or secondary operations as required and assists the team and rest of shift in any manner needed.

 

Read and follow job operation sheets daily to insure quality of assemblies.

 

Performs job duties in accordance with ISO 9002 Procedures and Work Instructions.

 

Other Duties as Assigned.

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

* Ability to perform simple math functions for production counts and down time.

* Ability to follow written directions on job operation sheets.

* Ability to communicate in a courteous manner when dealing with other people.

* Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

* Ability to accurately determine whether a manufactured part conforms to quality specifications.


Education and Experience:

 

1.  Previous injection molding experience preferred.

2.  Previous experience with quality and manufacturing related functions preferred.

perform inspection, labeling and packaging functions.

Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling- Packaging parts, stepping

on and off platform, stacking boxes onto skids.                                             0-24

Fingering/Grasping- Repetitive cutting, trimming,

packaging, stacking and labeling, writing and using

telephone.                                                                                                             75-100

Lifting- Stacking boxes onto skids, opening machine

door without assistance.                                                                                    75-100

Reaching- Opening molding machine door and reaching

into machine to retrieve product.                                                                      75-100

 

Physical Dimensions:

 

Exerting up to 30 pounds of force to lift full boxes of product and stack onto skids about 25-50 times per day. Exerting 20-30 pounds of force to open molding machine door without assistance at least 450 times per day. Job is considered relatively active work requiring stooping, kneeling, reaching, turning, twisting, repetitive cutting, trimming, packaging and lifting.
